The needle does go up and down when I turn the balance wheel. Any idea what might be causing this? The rubber belt does seem to be loose.

I've inherited my Nanas sewing machine. It was stored somewhere by my Dad for several decades and was absolutely filthy! I've starting cleaning it up and have plugged it in to try out. The light works, and the motor sounds like it's working, it just doesn't make the needle move up n down.

So I've sorta been collecting a rainbow of inks - not strictly rainbow order, just trying to create some kind of blend of colours that pleases me and I thought I'd share how I'm getting on with it.

It makes me silly happy seeing all these colours together, and so I'll write a rainbow pretty often 😋 Keep each pen ticking over sort of thing.

Anyone got tips for taking photos of ink & pens etc? My phone keeps making the paper look blue.

I've been slowly finding pens to match the ink colours, mostly been getting entry level Lamys, Kawecos, & Twsbis now but trying out a few others too.

Recently got a green & a blue Taccia Facet which I love!

There's some more changes I want to make to this still - where there is a big jump from one colour to another. I've really enjoyed mixing some of my own inks, so you can get just the right shade.

But the Turquoises and the browns still need attention - mixing some "bridging" inks or buying some that make them blend better.

I have some lovely blue inks already, (Pilot Aji-Sai, Pilot Rikka, Diamine Blue Velvet, Diamine Blue Black, Diamine Turquoise, Wearinguel Moby Dick) but would love a really bright one (preferably not a pigment ink nor a shimmer) to go in this pen I'm eyeing up. I have the green Taccia Facet <F> inked with Pilot Iroshizuku Sui - Gyoku and it's so gorgeous I want the blue one now too.
