June 2026 News

Welcome to the June 2026 news update for WARSURGE.

In the app department, we are working on improving the performance of the app, and navigating some new Apple requirements. It has been slow as the issues have been complex. In addition to these fixes, there will be a new clearing feature in settings. To start with, the feature will help clear unused armouries and in a later update will expand to help clear unused weapons (weapons that are not linked to any profiles).

The Kickstarter collaboration with DakkaDakka.Store is set to launch in July, estimated to be the 14th at this stage. The funding period is planned to run for a little over two weeks. Some of the items on offer include:

An exclusive quick rules booklet called “Operation: Nightshade” containing seven exclusive missions as a campaign with challenges, 3D printing and painting guide, casual ruleset, lore and profiles with QR codes for two new factions: New Yard Constabulary and Createra Genetics. All of this in a 50-page booklet.

The Kickstarter will offer New Yard Constabulary and Createra Genetics miniatures, with several troop choices and leaders for both sides. These will be available as STLs with physical model options planned as well.

War Factory is next after the DakkaDakka.Store collaboration. We have big plans for this play mode, and it will be suitable for players who like to place buildings and for those who do not. For example, we plan to provide options for players to have no base, a single headquarters or to be able to build multiple buildings. More details to come after our work for the DakkaDakka.Store collaboration is complete.

Stay tuned for more news!

May 2026 News

Welcome to the May 2026 news update for WARSURGE.

In the app department, we are working on releasing a small update that introduces an unused Armoury purge feature, which can be found in Settings. In addition, we have put all backup options into a single tab with sub-tabs. This small update is also essential as there are new app store requirements from Google requiring us to make tweaks. After that, we are working on improving the performance of the app; several users have reported a memory leak issue. We also want to introduce War Factory either alongside or soon after that fix.

Note that there may be a version number difference between Android and iOS users for a while. This is not a problem as all the unit and weapon costs will be identical and no perk differences. It’s just a temporary situation while we sort out new app store requirements.

The collaboration with DakkaDakka.Store is being worked on, which will introduce a miniature line in official collaboration with us at Warsurge and a game/mission book. The project is built around two full skirmish factions:

-New Yard Constabulary-
When a world-ending calamity strikes, it is the Chronstables who forge the new continuity.

They utilise both ancient technology lost to time and cutting-edge science of the far future. Every cell is led by a Chrontendent; their horologes allow them to briefly travel back in time to warn the predecessors and share knowledge. In turn, agents of yesterday leave messages in hidden caches to be discovered in the coming years. Together, investigators trace a disaster's roots and send enforcers to nip the threat in the bud while trying to preserve as much of the original timeline as possible.

-Createra Genetics-
With no more waking hours left to sell, the working class started selling their afterlives, too. Nightshade Inc. took advantage of this wonderful opportunity, and the first undead security/military solutions hit the market. Corpses implanted with reanimator modules and armed to the teeth proved to be reliable, undemanding workers. These modules utilised the processing power of the brain to execute complex commands while maintaining total control. There was no shortage of people willing to sign their vacant bodies away, trading them for a marginally better life.

Soon after, the company patented its KRISPR technology and set its division ‘Createra Genetics’ to work, which allowed them to edit the genes of those who failed to read the fine print. The next-gen guards sported bone-blades, steel cords for muscles and eyes capable of infrared vision - an even hotter commodity.

Naturally, detractors have voiced some concerns over the years. Are the previous owners still trapped in their awakened bodies? Is the units' true allegiance still with their creators, giving them eyes and ears in every military facility? The internal investigation launched by Nightshade Inc. discovered no such vulnerabilities…

War Factory is next after the DakkaDakka.Store collaboration, which will bring a new way to play Warsurge on the tabletop, adding a ‘RTS’ (real-time strategy) flavour. There will be enough content to almost feel like its own game, so personally I’m looking forward to adding this ‘expansion’ to the Warsurge system.

Welcome to the April 2026 news update for WARSURGE.

DakkaDakka.Store has created a miniature line in official collaboration with Warsurge. The project is built around two full skirmish factions, each with its own identity, style and battlefield role - everything you need to build a force and jump straight into the game. We have some of the miniatures painted on this month’s news cover!

In the app department, we are currently working on an option to purge unlinked weapons in Settings. This can help tidy up the app and in turn, may improve app performance for some users. We also have other quality of life features we want to implement, such as a search feature, sub-folders and ‘Collections’ which help you keep a tally of the models you own. These new features may take time to appear over several updates.

We are also preparing a new way to play Warsurge in the app: War Factory. This game mode has been a plan of ours for a few years now, but we have decided to push it forward. The reason why is because a well-known RTS (real-time strategy) inspired tabletop wargame was going to offer a way of playing on the tabletop like an RTS… but they have reneged. So, soon you’ll be able to play tabletop games similar to RTS with Warsurge. Simply put, your roster will act as a shop to ‘purchase’ units and you’ll accrue points by capturing nodes on the battlefield. There will be a few unique options to win the game with War Factory, but our intention is to have it also compatible with other game types or their objectives, such as Missions or Tactical Strike. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

On the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of May, we will be at Arcfest 2026 in Melbourne (Australia). It is a celebration of tabletop wargames where there will be tournaments and painting competitions. If you’re in the region, why not come say hi and play some Warsurge with us. There’ll be a prize for those who complete a demo with us, and we’ll be donating prizes to Arcfest itself.
