Hi all,
Thank you for your kind words, thoughts, and advice regarding my boy Chibi. He's still currently in hospital but doing much better and I'm hoping he can come home tomorrow. The picture is from visiting him today.
The vets suspect mycotoxin poisoning, and I pinpointed when this may have occurred. My partner had fed our babies some peanuts - the ones you have to crack out of the shell - just before he got sick. I only found this out today. Apparently, this can expose them to aflatoxins and other nasty fungi and bacteria.
This explains why his liver enzymes were out of whack, as aflatoxins heavily impact the liver. Thankfully, it looks like we caught it in time and got him treatment, but it could've absolutely been fatal.
In all honesty, I didn't know peanuts were a no-go myself, so I could've just as easily made this error. Many of you probably do, but for the ones that don't know, please just be aware. Please check for yourselves which nuts are safer from these nasty contaminants.
Much love 🦜💙
This is my beautiful boy, Chibi. He's the sweetest little thing and I absolutely adore him.
He was lethargic all day yesterday, which I thought was just due to not covering his cage the night before, but then he started vomiting in the evening. He's also had runny poops.
We took him straight to the emergency small animal vet and they've admitted him overnight. Tried calling for an update this morning but the avian nurses weren't available. They should call me in a few hours.
Has anyone experienced anything like this ?? Do you know what caused your baby to be sick, and most importantly did they pull through??
Super worried about my little man 😭😭
My little girl was adopted from a family who had her in a cage outside with no toys or companionship, seed-only diet, and very little contact in general. She was super aggro, and now she sleeps on me tucking her head away, and I have to gently scoop her up and place her elsewhere to get up 😂 the trust she has in me now is priceless, I love her so much 😭
2nd pic is with her hubby 💕
Interlopers that stole my babies' perch whilst it was outside. Was such a sweet surprise 🥹
