PCS Hours, EMS vs In-Hospital
Hi everyone,
I don't know the exact number, but I have well over 2,000hrs as an EMT-B split between a squad in a busy(-ish) area and an IFT company. I've been considering looking for an in-hospital job. It would give me a lot of exposure to things EMS doesn't, and based on what I've read on here a lot of folks agree.
My thought process here is having PCE as an ED Tech or similar would make my application look stronger. The only thing holding me back is I have been offered (full time) EMS Supervisor/FTO positions. I imagine the additional hours as an ED Tech would make my application much stronger than hours as an EMS supervisor, but it's hard to take a pay cut when a raise has been offered. This is a second career for me so I can already point to leadership roles in previous non-medical jobs.
I'm heavily leaning towards ED Tech, just wanted to see if anyone else has some insight or experienced a similar situation.
