Minecraft? Never heard of it. (Little childhood story)
Back in 2010, a friend was playing minecraft on his computer. I watched him and immediately wanted to play the game as well (I was 12 at the time).
I showed the game to my dad and he too wanted to play it. But sadly, when we got home and bought the game, my PC wasn't powerful enough to play Minecraft (which was in Alpha at the time). So we went to a hardware store to buy a new PC. I had some money saved which was not much but my dad told me he would add something if I didn't have enough so we could buy a PC. When the salesman asked me what games I want to play on the PC I only said: It should be strong enough to play Minecraft. He said: "I've never heard of it", he asked his coworker but he also hasn't heard of it. This was almost the exact same in two other hardware stores. But the PCs we could find there, were way too expensive for me so we got home.
My dad looked on a forum which was kinda like craigslist to find PC parts and got them to build a PC for me. After a few days I was finally able to play this game.
I'm almost 30 now but I still play it from time to time.
Thinking about how popular Minecraft is now, it's crazy to think that there was a time where we couldn't find anyone who knew about it.
