Nuisance neighbour?
Seeking advice on what to do, or who to talk to about a nuisance neighbour.
Live on 6 acres in a semi rural area in Lockyer Valley QLD.
Moved here ~ 5 years ago, to get out of town, away from people and start a family etc.
Neighbour is ~80yo at a guess a retired horse person, who has made living here extremely uncomfortable, problematic, and now dangerous.
We have had countless issues with plants being poisoned, false complaints to council, damage to fences, threats etc since being here. We ignored most of it, but the most recent issue is a bit more concerning.
On Monday afternoon, while both my partner & I were at work, he lit our fence line on fire, and let it go. It ended up spreading into our paddock and he just went inside the house and left it. Luckily another neighbour spotted it before it hit the scrub behind us, or head towards my house. They called 000, emergency fire services and rural fire service came and got it under control. I still was not home from work until they were just leaving. Didn't acknowledge me or tell me what was going on. Neighbour was hiding inside his house with all the lights off the whole time.
I'm glad no damage occurred, but now I'm wanting to have an official report of this. I don't care about damage to land as it's probably good for it. What I am worried about, is the fact he thinks this is OK and not have any consequences.
Do I report this to police? Council? Who do I see to make sure he is reprimanded and that this can't happen again.
