I am flying to Sri Lanka from 22 May to 31 May (so in 5 days) and my concern for now is the weather.

My route will be: Colombo, Elephant Orphanage, Sigriya, Kandy, Laxapana Falls, Nuwara Elliya, Ella, Mirissa, Thalpe.

I saw videos of thunderstorms and floods in Colombo. Can someone confirm if my trip is doable or if I should reschedule?

Hello everyone,

I’m flying to Sri Lanka from 22–31 May, and my main concern is transportation. I understand some railway routes may not be fully operational due to weather and repair work.

My itinerary is:

Colombo → Elephant Orphanage → Sigiriya → Kandy → Laxapana Falls → Nuwara Eliya → Ambewella (by train)to Ella → Mirissa → Thalpe → Colombo.

I’m trying to figure out whether I can comfortably do this trip using buses/trains, or if renting a car would make more sense.

If renting a car is the better option, I’d really appreciate recommendations for rental agencies. I’m planning to drive myself, so I don’t need a personal driver.
