deorbit: self-hosted cloud replacement for Neato D8/D9/D10 (early WIP)
I’ve started deorbit, a self-hosted server that speaks Orbital protocol so the robot connects to your machine instead of Neato’s servers:
https://github.com/singular0/deorbit
What works today (tested on D9, firmware 1.7.0):
- Robots connect to your server (any number of them)
- Status, battery, errors
- Start (whole house, eco only), pause, resume, return to base
- Reading, editing and cancelling the schedule
- Maps of past cleanings
- Web UI, Docker Compose setup, GPL-3.0
What doesn’t work yet: zones and no-go lines, robot settings.
The catch: I can’t publish the full thing yet. To make the robot to connect to deorbit server, couple of configuration files has to be changed in its root FS, and that step relies on an exploit. I believe the Vacuula team is currently disclosing it to Vorwerk, so I’m holding that part back until disclosure is done. Everything else is in the repo and works, but for now you can’t bind a robot to the server. I’ll update the repo once the disclosure window closes.
Two other things you should know: this is early work, and the code is entirely AI-written, so treat it accordingly.
