Is there a way to change, reduce or mute the system sound played when I manually increase or decrease the system volume?

I have set up hotkeys to conveniently raise and lower volume from a keyboard which does not have these buttons. It works like a charm but the system sound which provides the feedback sound to help you get to a good sound level is a hella annoying "boink boink boink". It grates my nerves. I've tried reducing system sounds but that did not do the trick. I'd like to nip this little personal issue in the bud.
