Update : MCPRUE Apollo S Ultra Build

About a month ago I posted my first SFF build. Since then, it’s gone through a few hardware changes, a lot of fine tuning, and more than a few late nights. I can finally say the build is about 98% complete, and I’m extremely happy with how it turned out.
This was my first custom PC build, and what started as “I just want a premium ITX system” turned into an obsession with getting every detail right.

Case:
MCPRUE Apollo S Ultra – Silver

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

Motherboard:
ASUS ROG Strix B850-G Gaming WiFi

Memory:
Corsair Dominator Titanium
64GB (2×32GB)
DDR5-6200 EXPO

Graphics Card:
ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 3090 OC
24GB
Still running the 3090 and honestly have no regrets. The 24GB of VRAM is still incredibly useful for gaming, productivity, and experimenting with local AI.

Storage:
Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD
One drive, plenty of space, and absolutely ridiculous speeds.

Fans :
Bottom : 140mmx 2 Lain li - Reverse Blade
Back Exhaust Fan: Sadokoo Mach 120

CPU Cooler:
ASUS ROG Ryuo IV SLC 360
360mm LCD AIO

Power Supply:
ASUS ROG Loki 1000W Platinum
Fully modular SFX-L

Cooling Performance:
This ended up being one of my favorite parts of the entire build.
After getting everything dialed in, the ROG Ryuo IV SLC 360 has been phenomenal.
I ran OCCT Extreme to really stress the system, and even under one of the heaviest CPU workloads I could throw at it, the 9950X3D never exceeded 78°C.
The airflow inside the Apollo S Ultra has honestly exceeded my expectations. For such a compact chassis, the cooling performance is outstanding. Once the fan curves and pump were properly tuned, the system became both cool and surprisingly quiet during normal use.
It’s impressive how much airflow MCPRUE managed to design into such a small enclosure.

What I Use It For
This has become my daily workstation for:
Trading
Software development
Local AI / LLM experimentation
Productivity
Gaming
The 9950X3D paired with 64GB of DDR5 has been an incredible combination. It handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat.

Favorite Part:
The Apollo S Ultra was the reason this build started, and after living with it for a month, I’d buy it again without hesitation.
Photos don’t really capture how premium this case feels. The machining, finish, and overall fit and finish are exceptional.
It definitely isn’t a beginner “throw parts together” case. You have to plan your build, think about cable routing, and pay attention to airflow.
But that’s exactly what makes it so rewarding once everything comes together.

Final Thoughts:
Looking back, I’m glad I chose something different instead of another mass-produced case.
This build taught me a lot, tested my patience a few times, and was far more involved than I expected—but the end result was worth every minute!

First SFF Build: Apollo S Ultra, 9950X3D, 3090… and Only Mild Emotional Damage

I’ve been lurking for months and finally decided to pull the trigger on my first build.
Went with the MCPRUE Apollo S Ultra. This is my first real custom build, and I wanted something compact, premium, overkill, and a little different from the usual cases. The Apollo S Ultra case just looked too clean to pass up.
Still dialing everything in, but she boots, Windows is up, temps look good so far, and the build is officially alive.

Build List
Case:
MCPRUE Apollo S Ultra — Silver
with handle/feet kit + glass side panel
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
16 cores / 32 threads
Motherboard:
ASUS ROG Strix B850-I Gaming WiFi
Mini-ITX / AM5
RAM:
Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB
2x32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 EXPO
Storage:
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe SSD
CPU Cooler / AIO:
Lian Li Hydroshift II 360 CL ARGB
360mm AIO with LCD screen
Power Supply:
ASUS ROG Loki SFX-L 1000W Platinum
Fully modular
GPU:
MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio 24GB
Pulled from my current system / BurgerTerminal
OS:
Windows 11

Current status:
First boot successful. CPU, RAM, SSD, motherboard, AIO, and Windows are all up and running. Still finishing cable cleanup, fan tuning, and GPU install/final setup.
Why I chose these parts
I wanted a compact build that still had high-end workstation/gaming power. The 9950X3D felt like the sweet spot for something that should stay relevant for years, and 64GB of DDR5 gives me plenty of room for trading, multitasking, gaming, local AI/LLM stuff, and general overkill.
The RTX 3090 is still a monster with 24GB of VRAM, so I’m reusing it instead of rushing into a new GPU. The ROG Loki 1000W gives me enough headroom, and the Apollo S Ultra case was basically the whole reason this build happened.

First impressions
The case is seriously premium in person. The layout is tight, but that’s part of the fun. It’s definitely not a basic “throw parts in and go” build — cable routing and part fitment matter a lot — but that’s also what makes it feel special.
The Hydroshift LCD showing temps is awesome, and seeing the 9950X3D boot clean with the DDR5-6000 kit felt like a huge win.
Still have some finishing touches to do, but I’m hyped!
