How common are train delays (Lyon->Nice)?

Hi! I'm travelling from Vienne (near Lyon) to Nice in a few weeks. My travel spans about 9:30am- 4:30pm on a Sunday. Here is my route:

-TER Vienne--> Avignon Centre -->10 min layover in Avignon--> ZOU! Avignon Centre--> Marseille Saint-Charle--> 35 min layover in Marseille--> ZOU! Marseille Saint-Charle--> Nice Ville

My question:

How common are train delays for this route/these trains? I'm debating buying tickets for something that evening in Nice, but it would rely on me arriving to Nice on time as it starts about 1.5h after my arrival in Nice. I understand that it's hard to predict delays, but just looking for general advice on how common delays are.

Thank you!

Train questions- connecting trains and luggage storage

Hi! I'm travelling from Vienne (just outside of Lyon) to Nice on the train. A few questions:

  1. My first train is the TER from Vienne to Avignon Centre. My second train is the ZOU! from Avignon Centre to Marseilles (and then I continue on to Nice from there on a different ZOU!). I have ten minutes between the arrival of my first train and the departure of my second train at Avignon Centre. Is this enough time to transfer easily or will it be stressful? How far are the tracks from each other? I will be travelling with a small carry on. I am booked on one ticket, so I am assuming that if my first train is late and causes me to miss my next connecting train, I will be rebooked on the next train, but of course I'd like to avoid that if possible!

  2. Where are luggage typically stored on these trains? Would my standard size carry on fit above head? I'm nervous about theft and would rather keep an eye on my luggage vs. have it be far from me in a luggage area. Any tips for theft prevention on the train?

Thanks for any help! :)
