2021 Wrangler JL digital dash freezing / going black (radio & wheel controls still work) — anyone else?
Hey r/JeepWrangler — I’m hoping to get some help / hear if anyone else has seen this.
I’ve been driving my preowned 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL since August. Recently, the digital dash display has started to freeze during operation. After a few drive cycles it eventually comes back to normal.
But this week is the first time it’s gone completely black. The interesting part is that:
- the radio display still works normally
- the steering wheel controls still respond
- it’s specifically the digital dash that freezes/disappears
Jeep service is likely going to charge several hundred dollars to diagnose and repair this (and as far as I can tell there’s no active recall for the screen).
Has anyone else with a 2021 JL / Wrangler experienced the dash freezing or going black like this? If so, what ended up helping—any DIY fixes, firmware/update notes, fuse/connection checks, or what the dealer/service center did?
Any insight on what to check next or what to ask Jeep to do would be really appreciated. Thanks!
