RSIsync — Free Discord bot for SC orgs: verify members, lookup ships & items, monitor RSI status

The bot RSIsync is designed to help org admins manage RSI membership verification inside Discord also members can Verify membership they can do a RSI profile lookup they can also see Ship details direct in discord.

There is command for exhangar status online or offline some preaty usefull stuff. There is details command you can find info about any planet, rase, components, weapons, coolers anything 😄

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago I shared my bot here and got valid feedback about transparency and trust. I've taken that seriously, so here's a proper introduction.

What RSIsync does

  • !verify <handle> — Links Discord members to their RSI profile. Assigns org/ally/non-org roles automatically.
  • !sync_all — Admins can sync all server members against their org's RSI roster in one command.
  • !rsi <handle> — Public RSI profile lookup (enlistment date, location, org, bio).
  • !ship <name> — Ship/vehicle stats from the SC Wiki API.
  • !details <item> — Look up any in-game item (weapons, components, coolers, etc.) via UEX API.
  • !status — Check your verification status.
  • !botinfo — Bot diagnostics (version, uptime, latency).

"Where does the data come from?"

No login required. No credentials stored. All data comes from publicly accessible sources:

  • RSI profiles & org rosters → scraped from robertsspaceindustries.com/citizens/ (public pages, no auth)
  • Ship stats → Star Citizen Wiki API (starcitizen.tools)
  • Item details & prices → UEX API (uexcorp.space)
  • RSI server status → RSI status RSS feed

The bot never asks for your RSI password, never accesses your hangar, and never stores any personal data beyond your Discord ID ↔ RSI handle link (for verification).

"Is it open source?"

Not currently — it's a solo project and the codebase includes proprietary business logic. However:

  • All free commands are fully functional without paying anything
  • Only !sync_all (mass org sync) requires a subscription — this is the admin-heavy feature that costs server resources
  • The bot runs on a Hetzner VPS in Germany, subject to EU/GDPR data protection laws

"Why should I trust a closed-source bot?"

Fair question. Here's what I can offer:

  1. Minimal data footprint — bot stores only: guild ID, org symbol, Discord ID ↔ RSI handle mapping, and command usage stats. No messages, no DMs, no browsing data.
  2. No OAuth login — bot never asks you to "Login with RSI". Verification works by checking if your handle exists on the public RSI org page.
  3. All APIs are public — you can manually verify every data source the bot uses.
  4. GDPR compliant — hosted in EU, data deleted when bot is removed from server.
