Looking to rehome our very loved dog.
We love him very much so making this post makes me incredibly sad.
Tooper is a 3 yrs old neutered American bulldog. We have his AKC registration. He is steadfastly loyal and loving. He is also a very big dog, so he will need a home that has experience with large dogs. Tooper needs a quiet home, preferably without other pets, or small children. He would be a FANTASTIC farm dog. He does have some dietary restrictions as he is allergic to poultry and dyes.
The reason we are reluctantly rehoming Tooper is because he took a snap at a small child. We have two kids and he has never bitten them, or shown even a modicum of aggression towards them, or us. The problem is that we live in a neighborhood with small children who often come over and ask to play with our daughter. He gets incredibly excited when someone is at the door. Today while I was feeding our baby in the other room, our daughter was talking to a friend with the door cracked open. Tooper ran at the door and blew past our daughter out the door. The child of course screamed, which is a massive trigger for Tooper, and he took a snap at his face. The child is okay, but this could have been much worse and we are not willing to risk this happening again.
We have tried to work with him on this, but obviously we have failed. Please message me if you are interested. He is an amazing dog, but we cannot risk a child getting hurt.
