I dont see this verse mentioned in the lists people make and post but it's the most obvious clue to me that we are likely in for unparalleledly serious trouble because this is notably specific. It's the #1 reason I find this hypothesis likely, a guy of bad character being ruler of a blob is just regular bad times, but this one lining up on top of that is exceedinly rare.

Also, if it really is him, given how glaring his thievery is at this point, I think the thief of John 10 who only comes to destroy might directly or in double meaning refer to him.
