Lump on dogs foot
This lump appeared on my 12 month old chihuahua within a day. Took her to the vet and they said it is probably benign and should go away on its own within a few months but to keep an eye on it and to take her back in a months time. She was booked in for her spay 2 weeks later so we asked them to remove it while she was under. It was send away for testing. I got a call from the vet today (3 weeks after removal) saying the standard histopathology was inconclusive and that we can get immunohistochemistry done if we wanted to. They didn’t say it needed to be done but they can not confirm that the lump isn’t malignant. They said because of the location of the lump and her age it is a little concerning. I said to go ahead with the next test, I just can’t imagine not knowing for sure that it’s not anything serious. Some things I’ve read makes it sound like and look like a histocytoma but other things make it also sound like something worse. I just keep thinking if it was something minor and benign that it would have clearly shown that in the first lot of pathology. Has anyone had a similar experience with a young dog?
