I've grown to hate my job.

I have worked at Dairy Queen for just over one year, started in March of 2025. My job was tolerable for the first few months before each and every day I started to dress having to go to work. Here are some examples of what I dislike about it.

  1. Co-workers.

Yes, they're not exactly bad people, but God forbid I ask them to do me one favor every once in a while. Im a sort of people pleaser so im okay with doing some things. Like im always the guy taking the trash out no matter who's job it actually is, grabbing mix even when im busy. But the moment I ask someone to do it for me (example: the trash bag is overfilled) My likely response roughly 80% of the time is "No, i can't, but you can!"

  1. The Consumers.

I've got two stories for you guys, and it sums up my experience with customers altogether. The first experience is me being told off because of MY SMILE. A guy ordered two sundaes, I make them for him and the guy in the car, I hand them the order and he says "nah uh, I don't want that sh*t, take it back, i want a refund" because I smiled at a joke made by a coworker. The second story, I was sweeping and there was a person that needed their money taken at the DT window, so I wash my hands (because I was sweeping) and go to take their money, and they say "Could you wash your hands? No offense but you seem like the type of person to have dirty hands." I about walked out.

3(a.) Boss / Store Owner

Let me tell you, this person is... quite insufferable.

They will complain about quite literally everything. Whether it be about an employee taking a cake order (rather than a manager) to someone forgetting to sweeping under a counter. I get that these are kinda valid things to bring up, but thats NOT what they'll do.. They will absolutely throw a fit if the job isn't done 1000% right. I remember one time my coworker received a coupon for a 3 Oz cone, and gave them the discount for a SMALL cone, not knowing the difference in ounces. Boss was quite angry about this, asking how they didn't know the difference. I kindly reminded everyone about the ounce difference in cones and went about day.

Thats my rant, just know there is WAYYY MORE to this than what I have said.
