Passive or Powered for Tv/Music (2.0/2.1 setup)
Hi everyone. First time posting, hope I cover everything here. Main question is in the title.
Location: Portugal/EU (prefer not to, but ok to buy online)
Budget: 500€ max**
Use case: TV (movies and everything else) and Music (vinyl player + digital)
The Room: 5x3m (16x10 ft) with couch 2m (6.5 ft) from TV/speakers.
Current Devices: Pioneer DJ DM-40 on my desktop / TV speakers 🙃
* will only get a sub down the line if I feel the need for it, so not included in this budget.
** no record player bought yet, which could influence the audio budget.
So, I should keep focus on getting active/powered bookshelf speakers or look to build a full setup with an avr/Amp? Important to note I would have no issue with selling everything I buy now and starting from scratch later.
For reference, even used, any relatively recent (~10 years) AVR seems to go for 100€+ where I live. On the other hand, it's a central area so there's lots of options.
For powered I've been looking at some speakers like the Ruark MR1 Mk3, the Fenris A4, Eltax Monitor 3 BT (the passive ones get a lot of recs, not sure about the actives yet) or a bunch of the Edifiers. All of these cover my needs, including the sub-out for a future addition, and are all within the budget. (I'm happy to get recs for other powered speakers as well)
So... should I just go active/powered or do I have anything to gain from building a full 2.0/2.1 from scratch with the avr?
Thank you!
