i've been really enjoying kde, but had a weirdly persistent issue with plasma that seems to be specific to wayland installs: moving panel widgets to specific locations doesn't seem to work. i just solved it and figured i would post about it in cast someone else has the same issue...

i couldn't fix it in the panel config editor or the add/remove widgets window, so i hunted down the config file and specified the order manually:

~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

there's a section called "AppletOrder" and i changed the ids to match my desired order, then restarted plasma.
