Hey everyone. 27M here dealing with three herniated discs at L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1, pressing on my L4, L5, and S1 nerve roots — right side worse than left.
Things have gone downhill fast in the last week. My right leg is in constant pain, I’ve lost strength in my right calf to the point I can’t do a single heel raise, and I’m walking with a limp because I can’t push off with my right foot.
I’ve committed to surgery and am currently waiting on insurance approval. Surgeon wants to do a laminectomy and discectomy on L4-5 and L5-S1. Looking to hear from people who’ve been through something similar.
A few things I’m curious about:
Did the leg weakness/muscle loss come back after surgery or did it linger?
Anything that helped manage the leg pain while waiting for surgery?
Anything you wish you had known going in?
Any input is appreciated. This has been a rough stretch
