Excuse the flash, but I brought this plant to my work desk and when I came in last morning I realized the leaves on this stem turned yellow. Cut those yellow leaves already and was left with this (See photo)

Question, are the leaves dropping or turning yellow because the roots are exposed? Should I cut this whole node and put it in water? Or just leave it alone?

All help appreciated!
