[Question] Best remedy for drop beam fix
Ripped apart my old deck in attempts to fix put new joists and discovered previous builder installed drop beam 3/4” too low and “fixed” it by adding shims to every joist. I’m a DIY’er and first timer with deck knowledge limited to YouTube and this sub, and am completely lost on what to do. I assume shims are a no-no? Should I try to salvage the drop beam by attempting to remove old/rusted carriage bolts to raise up the beam to level? Install a new drop beam at proper height? What say you?
