I’ve job hopped and have some gaps in my resume. How do I do this?
In 2021 I had a terrible boss who bragged that she got “B minus employee” to quit. I tried for months to make things better, but eventually found a new job in December. The new job was fine at first, but six months in they had pressure to cut head count because the stock price had taken a hit so I moved to a PE backed contract position.
After my three month contract was up I moved from there to another, this time for five months. In the middle on 2023 I was unemployed for three months until I found myself with a small company(<60 employees) where I stayed until they missed a bid and I was part of a round of people let go. Three months later, in the fall of 2024 I found a position at a non-profit that was stressful but manageable.
Last December my position was eliminated.
Since then I’ve been on unemployment, which will run out soon, and I’m getting pretty worried. I live in Dallas-Fort Worth, where the job market has usually been pretty decent relative to the rest of the country. I’ve been using an honest resume and cannot get an interview, despite being a diligent worker with an MBA. I don’t want to lie, because I truly believe I have nothing to feel ashamed of, but months of looking with nothing working for me is tearing me down. I wake up in the middle of the night and scout job boards, and then am dragging the next day.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Can anyone offer some helpful advice?
