Considering turning down my ABSN acceptance for OHSU—Has anyone received the President's Scholarship Fund?

Hi everyone,

I (33F) was recently accepted into an accelerated BSN (ABSN) program in Oregon, but the cost is starting to look like more than I'll realistically be able to manage. Because of that, I'm looking into OHSU, especially since I saw that the President's Scholarship Fund doesn't require a separate application and that all applicants are automatically considered.

For those of you who received the scholarship, I have a few questions:

  • When did you find out you were awarded it (before or after admission)?
  • Did OHSU explain why you were selected, or was it simply included in your financial aid package?
  • What do you think made your application competitive for the scholarship?
  • Did the award help cover your full cost of attendance (including estimated living expenses like food and housing), or did it only apply toward tuition and fees?
  • Additionally, how competitive is getting accepted to OHSU in the first place? I have a 2.99 from my undergrad (2011-2015) and a 4.22 GPA for my prereqs (2025-2026)

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!
