I need to break the news to my employer that I will begin maternity leave at the end of July. I got hired at this job in January and did not let them know about the pregnancy during the interview process. I work for a fully remote company and I am their only US employee (they are based in India). The timing is terrible to break the news as we just got an email from our largest client demanding a ton of money back. The advice I’m asking for is should I wait another week to see if things die down with the big client? How can I tell them the news? Should I expect any blowback?
