3.5/ 513/ C- in physics II—applying MD this cycle and trying to course-correct
Rising senior at HYPSM, BME major. cGPA around 3.5, MCAT 513. Strong clinical/service profile through a student-run free clinic: leadership/ops, patient navigation, interpreting, and lots of longitudinal patient-facing work.
Problem: I just got a C- in physics. I know some schools require C or higher for prereqs, so I’m looking at taking another upper-level physics course senior year.
Main questions:
- Is this still a viable MD cycle with a realistic school list?
- If I take another physics course and do well, does that usually repair the prereq issue?
- Are there schools that would still require retaking the exact course?
- Should I mention the C- anywhere, or only if asked?
Trying to figure out if this is “serious but fixable” or “delay applying.”
