Thoughts on chest ~3 years post op?
TLDR because this shits long: I had double incision without nipple grafing in 2022 and a revision in 2023. I still get slightly dysphoric about my chest. There was some miscommunication with the surgeon about what type I'd be having. I did my best to educate myself and communicate my concerns before surgery but still ended up with the type I was concerned about due to the miscommunication. I know I might be more emotionally hypersensitive about my chest, so I'm curious about your guys thoughts on my results. The rest is sort of just a vent and context-
During the first consult my surgeon mentioned a "hybrid approach". It would be regular double incision and the nipples would remain attacted. He said my chest was small enough and my nipples were already in a good spot. He said it was safer and I'd have a higher chance of keeping sensation, which I wasn't that stuck tbh. I was down for this safer approach and keeping my nipples attached until I did research on my own. It was difficult to find due to his vague title of "hybrid approach" but I found the term button hole which sounded like what he was talking about. I read that it had a higher chance of left over tissue. I brought up my concern with the nurse and they said my surgeon wrote down that I would actually be having grafts. So I contined to ask every step of the way and mentioning I would rather prioritize a natural, flatter looking chest over keeping sensation and told the same thing to the surgeon the day of surgery and he said he wasn't doing button hole. So I thought I wasn't going to have this "hybrid approach" and expected to wake up with grafts, but didnt. I still really dont know what this "hybrid approach" was. Whether it's buttonhole of not, I assume his approach also has a higher likelihood of left over tissue. So my comments prior to surgery should have raised red flags for him on his recommendation IMO. I ended up having a revision back in 2023 which helped somewhat but I still feel like theres a sort of perking or folding around the nipple when i flex, and some tissue around the nipple stalk. My nipples also poke out more than I'd want. I know cis guys don't have a perfectly flat chest when wearing a shirt and I do naturally have a bit of a rounded chest, so I more mean around the nipple itself. Despite my left over dysphoria, I don't think my results are horrible. I'd take this over pre surgery any day 1000%. Thanks for reading. Any thoughts, good or bad are welcome.
