abq natives: how is it like growing up here during the breaking bad era?

i’ve lived in abq for my entire life and i never saw any type of filming for breaking bad. but it’s funny how when people ask where im from and i say “new mexico” they say “what a lame state” or “omg you’re from mexico?” only to connect that nm is from breaking bad, then they say “OMG YOU LIVE WHERE WALTER WHITE LIVES?” it’s pretty funny and a normal conversation i have. i’m happy that we are known for breaking bad because it definitely put us on the map🤣 i just finished the show recently as a native albuquerque resident (i know sue me), but there’s many times i pass by locations now and i think omg this was in breaking bad.
it feels especially special because abq is not a city like miami or LA. it’s more niche and underrated so it makes us feel special in a way🤣

TLDR; how are or were your experiences as a new mexican breaking bad fan?

just finished breaking bad…the hate to skyler is not justified to me.

i know this is a sensitive topic in this fandom. however, in an objective sense, skyler did absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. were there some parts where she may have been annoying, avoidant, and vengeful? yes. but if your husband had the biggest meth empire in the southwest you would be the same. actually, she let more things slide than i would personally 🤷‍♀️

in s5, she supported walter after he got caught by hank. she didn’t just use that opportunity to save her own self. she instead ruined her relationships with her own family to help him record a blackmail CD, not only that, she didn’t admit anything to hank.

besides being annoying sometimes, what did she really do wrong? any wife would be the same way especially when their kids lives are at stake.

not to mention, the hate she got manifested to the actual anna gunn. i think it’s absolutely ridiculous and in some sense rooted in misogyny.
