Tactics for using a sidewalk garden to cultivate neighborhood community?

I love the idea of a person walking their dog or a group of kids encountering my front yard native garden and picking a wildflower or collecting a little trinket. Is there a word for this phenomenon?
A little free library
Hidden painted rocks
A miniature fairy garden
… a little nudge towards community-building and whimsy.

What other little interactive garden/yard things have you seen?
