What are the advantages of trading on margin? How do you avoid margin calls?

I suppose trading on margin is great; but the spectre of margin call is a turn off. Don't know how others deal with margin calls. To me, if there are alternatives out there, I rather route for the alternatives!

Am I the only one? What are the advantages?

On Props, do they do 40-60%? 20-80%? Or 100%?

Just curious!

I was of the opinion props do 100% but it looks like they don't; saw one doing 40-60%? 20-80%?

Some perhaps 5-95%?, though I think that can't happen.

Just curious what others are going for?

What is the average wealth in the US vs that in Canada?

Of course population is a huge factor; the US is close to 400mln folks & that is ten times that of Canada.

If you are a business owner in the US, you are looking at facing nearly 400mln customers, but if you are a business owner in Canada, your customers are ten times less - putting aside balkanized(if I can put it that way), products & services offering in the marketplace. Some folks won't ever need your products and/or service.

That said, what would be the average weath in the US vs Canada? Ideally, in Canada, it should be ten times less but is it?

Would you give a humanoid control of your dollars, like its your financial advisor & accountant at the same time?

Some folks say they are open to AI taking control of their finances. I am not sure however whether they would also be open to have a humanoid take control.

To me, granting a humanoid power over your budget & financial matters would be a little dicey at this stage of the tech development; perhaps into the future? So, I don't know if I would. Even AI generally, I probably have to think twice about doing so; most definitely won't for quite a bit into the future.

Don't know about you; would you?

Humanoids for looking after the elderly folks?

Chinese are way ahead on AI, humanoids/robots.

But if the target for humanoids is for looking after elderly folks, how safe would that elderly care be or look like exactly? Supposing a humanoid, for whatever reasons, maybe a glitch in it LLM reservoir, planted its face down hard on an elderly person its supposed to look after, wouldn't that translate into instant death?

Of course even human care, I mean nurses aren't exactly squeaky clean! We have seen videos of nurses abusing elderly folks in nursing homes. Such abuse can easily result into an elderly person dying. But to use humanoids is a whole new ball game imho.

Don't know about you. But isn't it full of risks?

Ever wondered of the day humanoid begins to think, independently?

What do you think would happen when humanoid begins to think independently?

Right now humanoids & robots do think yes, but mechanically; they have to be prompted to think. Its however quite likely in the not too distant future, these new arrivals will begin to think on their own. If that happens, the relationship between man & humanoid/robot would change dramatically. Imagine walking into your office & finding your deployed humanoid/s making a decision over the future of your business & concluding, willy-nilly, you be fired from the business. How will you go about that? They have access to everything in the business including the ability to shut it off.

Also, can you imagine situations in which humanoids are conscious, & can make decisions on their own although their consciousness wouldn't be comparable to that of human? Doesn't that scare?

What damages would they be able to inflict on anything, for instance, as independent thinkers?

Obviously the consciousness may not translates into humanoids knowing what they are or that a human being is a living breathing being unlike they, or that some decisions they make are wrong. But because they are conscious at a different level, they would be in position to do all they could, including taking wrong actions just because the perfect alternative does not exist. And isn't this how AI can lie anyways, not because it wants to, but because the proper answer to a question isn't in the LLM & so AI zeros-in on to the next best alternative?

The thoughts of humanoids being conscious & able to think and make decisions on their own should scare everyone. Just think about it for a second. You walk into a place & find a humanoid lost in thoughts. You have no idea what its next move would be; its train of thoughts are proceeding normally like the train of thoughts of a human being sitting somewhere & thinking deeply. But you have no clue as to what it is thinking about. What would you do?

Would you hit it with a conversation in order to find out about its deep thoughts, hopefully by then they would be in position to converse? Or you would try to stay away from it until it finishes its thoughts first so you can see what actions it takes next?

What are humanoids in a workplace? Would they by any chance be qualified as workers?

Humanoids & robots are new arrivals into the workforce.

But its kind of tricky where they belong; do you think they are best classified as workers, or just mere machines?

The classification is critical because if they are workers, then wouldn't they have to pay taxes? Why would a human worker pay taxes but not a humanoid that qualifies as a worker too? Obviously, things would become tricky at this point as humanoids wouldn't be in position to file their tax return.

And if they have to file their tax return, the question becomes, who collects/pays, the amount credited or owing, after a tax assessment for the new class of workers is concluded?

The state or the owner?

We know AI, humanoids & robots are coming for our jobs; no doubt about that. But would they be coming for our social life too, for just in case the technologies become conscious, which might just become a reality pretty quick?

New humanoid robots replacing workers in factories

Humanoids replacing humans from work?

Technologies have always, since the birth of invention, helped humanity progress; but that is because the technologies that were invented thus far were only in aiding humanity in its struggles to conquer its environment, feed itself & live in relative peace and security not just from wild animals, but also from hostile members, including the elements; the technologies were tools for mankind to use in his daily toils for survival, otherwise the tools can lie idle for eternity.

And therefore by so doing, humanity progresses forward, economically. Over the years humanity has accumulated tremendous amount of wealth due to the technologies. Long distances have been conquered, by vehicles, trains, airplanes, & so forth. In the northern cold winter, folks can live in relative safety from harsh weathers; houses and heating systems have made life livable in cold places. People can drive themselves to & from work, sometimes in very terrible weather conditions, relatively safely because of technologies. Farms & industrial machines have gone a long way to churn out foods humanity rely on; talk less of medical & education fields.

The list is long.

So, without technologies, all the above plus more wouldn't have been possible; humanity would have still been hunting & gathering from what nature offers in abundance.

It’s now the era of AI!

Before AI, there was the Internet. However, the Internet was & still is, just like any other machines mankind has built & has been using thus far; just tools to get things done without overworking oneself & also, getting them done faster. AI is not different; AI is also a tool that helps humanity achieve the same goal faster & efficiently. But when AI is packaged into a humanoid or a robot, the reality changes; the AI in a humanoid or robot becomes an independent, autonomous tool capable of performing tasks on its own. All that it needs are the prompts to trigger a humanoid or a robot into action. So, even if human inputs are critical, there is a level of autonomy in these gadgets & that changes everything.

So at this stage, even humanoids & robots are on the one hand, tools, and on the other, autonomous machines capable of performing duties independently though human supervisions are required and at all times. A critical question then arises: Will the state of humanoid & robot change?

It’s highly unlikely the state of these autonomous machines will change; not anytime soon at least, & most definitely never. And this is because humanoids & robots won't ever become conscious. And there isn't anything that can be done to make them conscious! A dog is conscious because it has blood running through its veins & therefore can listen to its owner & can do what its owner commands it to do – within its ability; but cannot hold a conversation. The advantage of a humanoid over a dog however is, the humanoid can perform certain functions that only human can perform, because of its mechanical arms & hands. But at this stage a humanoid cannot hold conversations too just like a dog. But this might change, & that means humanity may in future deals with humanoids capable of holding lengthy conversation even if consciously they wouldn’t, as mere machines trapped in human morphology, know what they maybe conversing about.

That said however, AI, humanoids and robots’ effects on humanity are quite evidently going to be both negative and positive. Negative in the sense, many jobs will be lost, as the technologies take over a good chunk, driving poverty to a higher level. By losing jobs & lacking incomes, humanity would become worse off. But the technologies also have lots of positives to bring onto the table. For instance, it reduces workloads from the shoulders of humanity – workers becoming less stressed due to workloads. It appears to help speed up inventions of say, new drugs; not only that, surgeries are now, it seems, being performed faster & efficiently; medical diagnosis is easier, faster & efficient too due to AI. We have autonomous driving vehicles on the streets today thanks to AI! That means possibly reduced rate of accident & deaths on the streets due to human errors.

These plus more are the positives of these technologies. But how will the wealth distributions pan out?

Just like technological advances before them, AI, humanoid, & robot, would bring tremendous wealth to humanity. The real beneficiaries however, would most definitely be the owners of these technologies; ordinary man and woman of society wouldn’t benefit unlike in the cases of past inventions like productivity machines: Tractors, Computers, Faxes, printers, industrial conveyor belts, combustion engines, hand held tools, and so forth. These machines could only be used by humans as one performs his/her work; & for those who have access, the machines enable them create wealth. In the case of AI, humanoids & robots that operates independently or autonomously, wealth creation by the technologies would clearly be skewed; the technologies would skyrocket wealth for the rich & powerful on the one hand, and deepen and widen poverty for the poor ordinary man & woman. But, maybe I am wrong in my assessment.

Nonetheless, let me know what you think if you don’t mind.

Technology and wealth!

Technological development has always brought wealth.

If you go back in history, you would notice this. Each new tachnological milestone has produced trememdous wealth for huamnity; generally, all societies worldwide, one could conclude, benefitted from each & every technology known to man.

Today we have AI, giving birth to humanoids and robots.

My question: Would this new technological milestone produce wealth for all societies? Or there would be the ultra-beneficies and those that would only feed on crumbs of it?

Your thought?

P.S: this is a serious question; So, you need to think through it meticulously, like your life depends on it!

Humanoids specifically, would be living in their own apartments eventually!

Called it a store or whatever you fancy, but don't you think humanoids would need a place to spend their night in?

I am sure those places already exist currently & they are known as warehouses. But as societies advance, don't you agree humanoids would at some point, have to own their own, individual apartment, skeleton as the apartments may be?

First, if there is need to make money, that is one idea that can rake in gazillion dollars! Humanoids residential apartments doesn't sound that bad in the ears of capitalists! Second, I doubt many folks would want to store, nay, live with a humanoid in their house/apartment; for, a wire can snap, or there could be a glitch in the promp into its LLM reservoir & all hell would break lose in the house/apartment.

So, it would be better to have the things live separately in a different, perhaps, their own apartments.

Would extensive jobs lost to AI, humanoids & robots trigger reverse migration to the country side from the centres of civilization?

Not sure what you think, but aren't you concerned, extensive job loss by humans to AI, humanoids & robots, would trigger reverse migration from the centres of progress/civilization to the countryside of many if not all nations?

I don't know about you but that is what I think humanity is headed. For, AI, humanoids & robots are here to stay; and the proprietors, realizing the humongous values they bring to their bottom line, would only keep on perfecting them new workers so they can perform more or less like humans & hopefully surpass what human workers actualize in totality. Its an impossible achievement, Yes; but that these things will, over time, become more efficient & effective, even if they would never be in position to operate like humans, is a foregone conclusion.

This means jobs losses will only keep climbing up day by day. Now think about this for a second; you have gainful employment; you bought a house & living your best life. Maybe you have a family. Then all of a sudden layoff hits, and your are told you have hit the end of the road with the company; your service is no longer needed! You are given severance package & your former boss wished you good luck in your future endeavours. What would you do?

Look for another job you have no clue AI is invading too, or perhaps soonest? Start a business you haven't the capital for?

Remember you are not alone in this; lots of other folks would as well be facing the same situation. And soon none of you would be in position to meet your mortgage obligations, triggering foreclosuers. Worse, you wouldn't be able to climb down from owning a home to renting because even renters would be getting eviction notices due to losses of their jobs.

Given the above, the only option of last resort is for all these folks to hit the reverse migration path & hopefully kick-start new economies; that of countryside. You farm what you eat. Whatever produce is in excess, you sell or exchange with your village mates, or take it to the village market.

So I see reverse migration written allover in face of AI, humanoids & robots onslaught.
