Should I start over with my starter, start to discard, or something else?

I started my sourdough starter on Monday of this week with unbleached all-purpose flour. Things seemed normal and by day 3 it rose a bit (though in hindsight I believe it to be a false rise). It has bubbles and it smells perfect, but between after feeding it on day 3 and day 4 it developed this sort of runny consistency. Which I did some research and saw it could be that I’m adding too much water to my starter, so I lessened the amount of water but every day before feeding it still looks the same slightly runny(but kinda thick) way. I also read that it could be that my starter is hungry? Either way I’ve been feeding it but since that day there hasn’t really been a rise so I’m not sure what I should do from here. My starter sits on the kitchen counter by a window so it’s warm/ at room temp always. And I know it’s only been 5 ish days but I wanted to make sure it wasn’t like some reversal in progression. So by this point I’m not sure what to do but I really want it to work!
