New sensation

When I massage someone I can feel their Qi, and learned quickly to feel the difference between three different states: a flat/cold feeling that feels like lack of energy, a comfortable feeling where things are ok, and a sort of itchy uncomfortable feeling that i think corresponds with stagnation. Yesterday I encountered a fourth sensation - I felt nauseous every time I touched the top of the shoulders. When I removed the hands it disappeared. Tried back and forth a couple of times with the same result. The person had worked really hard with those muscles. Has anyone else encountered that particular sensation and what does it indicate? I felt so uncomfortable touching it I left it like that (not a professional).

Marla is the reason

I think ppl put way to little emphasis on Marla when interpreting this film. In the beginning they present her and that EVERYTHING has to do with her. They say it out loud.

Jack early on falls in love with Marla, he makes excuses to exchange numbers with her, but he isnt mature enough to form a meaningful bond with her based on love. Instead he projects his weaknesses on her and invents an alter ego that isnt as afraid of her as he is, Tyler. Someone who dares to interact with her, sleep with her. Jack is in the right age to get married but says he is a child in a mans body.

She is the only relatively sane person in the movie, the only one attached to reality, living like every day is her last. She has her problems, but over all she responds with proper reactions to everything, including Cloes death. Thus meaning that she can handle reality with its ups and downs. She is the only one questioning Jack when he is acting weird, the male friends are just behaving like a monkey army. She is also the only one posing a real threat to Tylers existence. And she is there in the end with empathy. Which is when Jack has managed to integrate his own weaknesses as his own, and also his own strengths, making him capable of actually bonding with her wo projections, bc he is now mature, and thus he can have an adult relationship. The end points in the direction of that they will become a couple.

Upon this is a layer of critic on what has caused this immaturity in him: a society based on consumerism rather than meaning, an distant father figure who hasnt taught him about connection, and the lack of really grasping that life is short and that if you want to live it fully you must realize that you are not immortal.
