HP EliteBook: Does "Power Control" in BIOS need to be checked for "Maximize Battery Health" to work?

HP EliteBook: Does "Power Control" in BIOS need to be checked for "Maximize Battery Health" to work?

Hi everyone,

I have a new HP EliteBook (Ryzen 7 model). I'm trying to limit the battery charge to 80% because I keep it plugged in most of the time.

I went into the BIOS under Advanced > Power Management Options and changed the "Battery Health Manager" setting to "Maximize Battery Health".

However, the battery is still charging past 80% and reached 92% already. I noticed there is a checkbox called "Power Control" right above the Battery Health Manager setting, and it is currently unchecked.

My question is: Do I need to check (enable) the Power Control box for the "Maximize Battery Health" setting to actually take effect? I want to make sure I'm not missing a step or if there's something else I should do.

Thanks in advance for the help!
