Some advice said to leave it, some said to paint it. I decided to spend the $6 on a can of rustoleum and repainted it. The paint will hopefully help the next tenants to not have to worry about future rust. I also fixed the "landlord special" and added matching paint underneath where the landlords never bothered doing so. The new shelf liner was extra that was already in the apartment when I originally moved in.

This is post-cleaning several rounds with CLR Bathroom Foam. How do I restore this to "give me my deposit back" condition? I've been in the rental for 10 years.
