I’m reshaping an old hat to give it a more traditional/historical look to mimic the ones worn by Selleck and Elliott in the movie The Sacketts.

I’m trying to flatten the very edge of my brim but even after using my steamer and resting books on it I haven’t had much luck. Would a flat iron be too much? Any tips on shaping or making it look good?

This hat is going to be largely for use during Cowboy Action Shooting matches so I’m not too worried about it getting beat up. Thanks!
