Alaskan cruise - end of May
Hello,
I leave for Alaska in a week. I am confused when it comes to packing, I understand layers are most important. Has anyone gone at the end of May and booked an excursion to be ON the Mendenhall glacier? We are taking a helicopter and hiking for 25mins.
The debate is with my husband. Projected temperatures in that area say it should be in the 30s on the glacier. He wants to pack snow pants and I don’t think it’s necessary. I also don’t want to wear snow pants around Juneau before and after the excursion since we have 3 hrs before and after. I have a wind/rain pant that goes over base layers. I think that will be ok. Has anyone done this and can offer how cold it actually is! Any additional advice or pictures from the excursion. I’m really pumped for this!!
