Is it common for legal internships to ghost after an interview?

I interviewed for a legal internship recently, and they told me they would let me know their decision sometime last week, between Wednesday and Friday. I never heard anything, so I sent a polite follow-up email yesterday morning. Still no response.

Is this common with legal internships? Should I assume I didn’t get it, or is it normal for these timelines to drag out? I’m mainly trying to figure out whether I should move on mentally or keep waiting.

I haven't had an internship ghost me after an interview so it's coming off as unprofessional to me. This is my last opportunity to get a paid internship this summer. I have a volunteer internship set up with a judge that I keep postponing because this place requested an interview late in the process (I applied early March, they requested an interview early May).

To answer any obvious questions, I don't think I bombed the interview. At least not bad enough to just get ghosted. The internship starts in early June so technically they still have time. But I told them about the other internship (because they asked if I had other opportunities - made it clear I would take this job over the other one) and they said they were making their decision the following week.

Tldr' I interviewed on a Friday morning, they said they'll decide between next wed and Fri, I followed up yesterday. Haven't heard anything back. Am I cooked?
