After today’s race, I added up all the caution minutes using the recording from the broadcast and came up with 92 minutes under caution. I understand that they are racing on a large track but while watching a lot of it seemed to be simply time wasting. I would think for any new fan watching this kind of thing it would immediately turn them off of the sport. Personally I would like to see NASCAR remove the automatic stage caution at road courses. Let the stage end, award the points, and keep the race green.
Road courses already tend to have enough natural cautions, as seen today and it would still keep a lot of the strategy but reduce the amount of time wasted during stage breaks.
What do you guys think? Is it too much time wasting or do you think the strategy around stage cautions is worth keeping them?

Note: I do know they did NOT have them during the 2023 regular season, it seemed to work fine. They were only added back to “officiate all the playoff races the same” during the 2023 playoffs.
