Testing the level of the TL
My 19-year old rising Junior in college is transferring to a 4-year college, within our state in the USA, from having just completed her AS (2-year college). (That whole paragraph sounds weird to me, I’m sorry…I’m trying to explain where and what as briefly as I can.)
She took this particular TL for 3 years in high school - 9th, 10th, and 11th grade…they didn’t offer a 4-year program. (She took ASL for her senior year, she took no foreign language at all while attending the community college for her AS.)
The 4-year transfer school needs her to have completed X amount of this TL. (I’m unclear on if she is expected to be Intermediate low or higher, my information is coming from my daughter.)
I’m coming to the lovely people of Reddit to ask if there is an inexpensive way to test her TL skill other than putting her in an 201 TL “Intermediate” level class (prerequisite is 3 years of high school TL…but that was taken 3 years ago) and hoping for the best.
We were looking at potentially taking that 201 option during the summer so she could “test out” afterwards and not need to add it as a class in the fall. I’m not sure if she’s still got the TL skills enough to be able to pass the class. She believes she can…but I don’t know. (I don’t speak the TL but it’s a common one in the Romance languages.)
Help a mom out, please?
