I like Trey Murphy III a lot, but is he overvalued now? Not saying he’s overrated at all but what exactly is he worth in this market? Pelicans seem delusional.

Theory: The Real Reason Why Kawhi is Klawing his way back to Toronto

Boardman gets trade. Sounds like this deal is as good as done unless something crazy happens behind the scenes.

Here is some peak offseason content for y’all. While I wouldn’t take this post too seriously, I would still personally put some chips on the table that everything you’re about to read is real.

It’s my suspicion that Adam Silver is working with Kawhi Leonard, Steve Ballmer, the Clippers, and the Raptors organization to facilitate a team friendly trade and extension for Kawhi to Toronto. Think of it as a form of restitution to the league and MLSE for two things: the overlooked tampering by the LA Clippers during Toronto’s championship run, and the ongoing investigation into LA's cap-circumvention scandal. Both issues have yet to be addressed in any serious way by the NBA, and the cap-circumvention investigation has exposed details regarding LA's tampering that the league otherwise had zero intention of addressing.

Expect the trade to be incredibly one-sided in favor of the Raptors. The conspiracy part is Adam Silver’s involvement, but I believe Silver would want all of this to be an undisclosed, hush-hush indemnity from Steve Ballmer and the Clippers to MLSE. The deal allows Ballmer and the Raptors to settle things without further investigations, legal recourse, or public embarrassment. It will also protect the massive investment Ballmer has made into the state-of-the-art Intuit Dome, settling the matter in a way that tames any controversy or speculation of wrongdoing by Ballmer or the Clippers organization. In other words: nobody who matters looks bad, and the games go on.

So, what happens with the cap-circumvention scandal?

A tale of two “Dennises”. Uncle Dennis the Menace will be the main fall guy and the one who media sends their troop’s after.** **"Unc" is not only the fall guy; it is reasonable to assume he is actually the most culpable party in all of this. There will be no public punishment for Kawhi Leonard, as he can feign ignorance and claim all business dealings were handled by his representatives and the Clippers. Steve Ballmer will claim innocence as he has, but he also needs a scapegoat. And ironically, it could be the other Dennis—Dennis Wong, minority owner of the Clippers. No one is going to jail, and everyone will still be rich. Once the investigation is wrapped up, it’ll all be swept under the rug quietly, with both "Dennises" being banned from NBA basketball operations. (Season tickets are still on the table, though).

Part of this trade will also include a public image restoration and rebrandOh my gosh for the Klaw. Expect a lot of community work and investments into the city of Toronto from Kawhi. Kawhi will be on a tour to repair his relationship with the city and the league to establish a place where he can be honored well into retirement and secure some hall of fame bids—especially since San Antonio and LA may not have a statue waiting for him. Canadians are a forgiving people, and his next stint here will serve as the perfect opportunity to separate himself from the scandal while redefining his legacy. He already won the chip here and when he’s standing beside the GROAT, Kyle Lowry, for No.7’s jersey retirement next year all the trauma he caused this country will fade away like Joel Embiid’s dreams in game 7.

The final piece in Kawhi’s legacy restoration and rebranding will be his mentorship of future first team all-nba’ers Scottie Barnes and CMB. When KL2 spends his extension years schooling our young core on how to be two-way beasts all will be complete and Kawhi will be forgiven for all the shit housery that him and Uncle Dennis Robertson put Raptor Nation through. Expect the Fun Guy to be a lot more vocal this time around and to finally prove to the world he is a leader!

There you have it. And if I’m wrong, I will get a Klaw tattooed on my face. 🤞🏾

Edit: never got an award on this sub before, so def appreciate that!!

The Tattoo Theory: Why We Won’t Draft Labaron Philon Jr., Chris Cenac Jr., or Dailyn Swain

Time to redo your big boards ladies and gentlemen.

I know it’s easy to be a little averse to new ideas, especially when they’re not rooted in statistical analysis. While I would personally put money on this theory, I’m not asking you to take it too seriously. Embrace it as peak offseason content.

The Theory

The Toronto Raptors front office does not like drafting inked-up players in the first round.

We haven’t drafted a visibly tatted player with a first-round pick since Delon Wright, and that was over a decade ago. Yes, there are more non-tattooed players than players with visible ink, but I doubt it’s mere coincidence.

Do we draft players with tattoos? Yes. But they’ve all been second-round picks.

Do we trade for players with tattoos? Of course.

But it’s my firm belief that our front office prefers drafting players with “clean sheets.”

Tattoos don’t carry the same bad-boy image they once did, but I think our front office looks at everything. We conduct a fed-style investigation into players’ backgrounds.

How did they treat their teachers?

How many pets have they killed?

Did their first kiss enjoy it?

What’s their play style in Monopoly?

Do they tip?

And yes, are they tatted?

Tattoos are a simple indicator of where a young prospect’s mindset is when entering the league. Can they tell you everything? No. But they tell you something.

The Raptors have always drafted a certain type of player in the first round. We rarely take flamboyant or overly boastful personalities. Maybe it’s just where our picks tend to fall, but it always seems to be guys you’d feel comfortable bringing home to meet your parents.

We like clean-cut players with positive demeanors and strong family values.

And I think this is a Bobby Webster thing.

Some people forget Bobby wanted to be a CIA agent before getting into basketball. Bobby likes players who would eagerly embrace the Raptors’ hustle-hard, no-controversy way of doing things.

Obviously, tattoos don’t define a player, and choosing a player based on tattoos would be completely ridiculous. But I guarantee whoever we pick will have zero visible tattoos.

Tattoos can hint at individuality, self-expression, and non-conformity. That’s great for superstars, but the Raptors never draft for superstardom. We draft for stalwarts with massive upside.

If Bobby drafts a tattooed player at #19, I will get a Tattoo of the person we draft on my right arm. 🤞🏾 But based on this utterly ridiculous theory, here’s who we definitely won’t pick at #19 and who passes the no-tats test.

🦑 Ink’d
Labaron Philon Jr
Isaiah Evans
Chris Cenac Jr.
Daily Swain
Isaiah Evans

🐳Clean
Cameron Carr
Karin Lopez
Mores Johnson Jr.
Allen Graves
Jayden Quaintance
Christian Anderson Jr.
Hannes Steinbech
Ebuka Okorie
Bennet Stirtz
Koa Peat
Joshua Jefferson
Henri Veesaar

Edit: fixed the names. I used ChatGPT just to edit grammar and spelling because I am wild with typos. But I didn’t realize it swapped out full names, 🤣. For any claiming this is AI slop, there is zero percent chance any LLM model can identify a list players with and without tattoos if it can’t copy a list of names without messing that up.

Alijah Martin and Hansen Wang for Allen Grave and Hannes Steinbach is insane 🫪 We Are Doomed.

Man think he’s walking on a parkway, but it’s a pool.

This shouldn’t be taken down because it is absolutely a confusing perspective from the perspective of the man in the video and I think it belongs in this sub. You could say this is a real world application of what this sub is all about. Anyhow, sharing because I believe this sub would like this perspective of confusing_perspective and want to her everyone’s take. Cheers!

KOC has Raptors selecting Hannes Steinbach with the #19 Pick in the NBA Draft

KOC says he's one of the more intriguing bigs in this draft class with with shooting and playmaking ability.

The more research I do on this guy the more I like his pairing with Scottie if we'r trying to move off Poeltl. I'm not a huge fan of drafting bigs unless the are undeniable but I wouldn't be made at selecting Hannes Steinbach.

Scottie wants to pass the ball and this guy can catch. I know that sounds basic, but we saw a lot of our players unable to anticipate Scottie's passing this season. Steinbach has bigger hands than Kawhi with a 7ft wingspan which not only makes him a good at catching passes but he's also an elite rebounder.

Is the German the upgraded we need for the Austrian? Maybe the national closes will make Poetle a perfect vet for Steinbach if we're forced to keep them both.

Awful Announcing has the Toronto Raptors' broadcast group ranked No. 4 out of 30 NBA teams. Some high praise for Matt and Jack, while some slight criticism for Alvin Williams.

Most common grade: A (40.4% of votes)
Percentage of A/B/C grades: 88.1%
2024-25 Ranking: 16th
2023-24 Ranking: 15th

The power-movers of this year’s rankings are the Raptors’ broadcasting crew, which vaulted into the top five after two seasons in the middle of the pack. Armstrong is a “national treasure” whose high-energy catchphrases define the Raptors’ identity. The consensus is that the broadcast is elite when Jack is on the mic but falls off when he’s not. The number of comments that were simply “Jack Armstrong!” was almost too many to count. He and Devlin are “iconic” and “the best in the business.”

Fans would love to see some more improvement from Williams when he’s paired with Devlin. As for the play-by-play voice, he “consistently delivers an elite-level viewing experience.”

Whatever happens tonight, just remember this is all for entertainment. Don’t bet any money you can afford to lose. Be nice to the players no matter the performance. This playoffs initiated some dawgs on the Raptors and we proved once again we are one of the best organizations in the league but the NBA is still a product that needs to sell commercials.
