[NY] Finally fixed the dark hallway problem without drilling holes
Been renting in NYC for 3 years. My hallway has always been pitch black at night — no outlet anywhere near it, and my lease is strict about no drilling or nail holes.Tried plug-in nightlights (no outlet), tried stick-on battery lights (fell off the wall after a few weeks and left marks), even tried just leaving the bathroom light on overnight.A few months ago I found a rechargeable motion sensor light that uses a magnetic mount. You stick a small metal pad to the wall once using removable adhesive, and the light clicks on magnetically. Remove it anytime — the pad comes off clean, zero wall damage.It turns on automatically when you walk by and shuts off 30 seconds after you leave. I've charged it twice in 3 months via USB-C.My landlord did a walkthrough last month and didn't notice anything.Small thing but makes a huge difference in an older apartment.
