New Rule: No AI Content!

We never thought we'd have to do this here. It's an academic and arts-related sub!!! But some people cannot help themselves.

The Film Theory mod team is announcing a new common sense rule: No AI.

This is an academic and intellectual field, obviously you need to do your own work! Put in the effort.

If you cannot exert the very minimal bare minimum effort of composing your own original words, your ideas are not worth serious consideration and likely are crafted as lazily as your composition. Being a perfect writer does not matter when your ideas are worthy.

Any posts utilizing AI generated text or imagery are strictly prohibited. We require authentic authorship and support human artists.

It’s not that hard to craft coherent writing or learn to throw some graphics together. It only takes effort. If you truly care about the work then put in the effort.

Lazy AI slop is not allowed.

What would my grandfathers WW2 service have been like based on his service papers?

Papers in the comments. I just found my grandfathers service record papers. I did not know a lot of this info. (I can assume why knowing how reluctant he was to share at all.)

We knew he was in the BOTB and eventually saw camps. That was the major info we could pull out of him. He claimed to have never risen in rank.

(After he died we found a Nazi rifle and photos of a camp from his service in his belongings. They were donated to a local museum.)

Based on what I know preliminarily as a history fan, his papers say lots of other things than what he recounted personally.

What would his service have looked like? Battles?

It seems like he only saw a year of battle but ALL the major battles? I’m very curious now.

[REQ] ($50) - (#Pittsburgh, PA, USA), (Repay $60: on 06/16/2026), (Venmo)

Hello everyone,

I'm very new here, not on Reddit though, so I hope I did this right. I’m requesting a loan of $50 to get my car out of impound to move for a job. I will repay you with $10 extra on the 16th.

I've been out of full time work for the last two years after leaving a abusive workplace. I'm about to be evicted for unpaid rent if I can't get my car sold and get funds to move to a new city for a job. I have roommates lined up, etc. (I have tried and failed to find a job here for two solid years, with career counseling, hundreds of applications. The jobs in my field here are just gone.)

I luckily got pulled over for not having insurance yesterday, as I have an appointment to sell the car tomorrow and funds are extremely tight it seemed very dumb to pay for a few days coverage over food and water. After being pulled over, the cop let me use my remaining money to pay for insurance then, so it's active now, but it didn't restart for 24 hours so they had to impound my car anyway.

If I can't get it out, I will not be able to pay my landlord and thus have my first eviction ever on record. I also won't be able to make my pre-paid flight on Sunday ($400+ cost), and miss the new job opportunity on Monday ($45k, my last job was low $30ks.)

My entire future rests on $50.

I'm using my few remaining funds for most of the money and only need $50 to make the $125 it costs to get the car back.

I get paid from my occasional contract job on the 15th, and have past paystubs. I have my car sale appointment receipt email and a listing of my stuff not selling on Marketplace to show I've literally tried everything else for money. I have my proof of insurance as well.

I do not have family to rely on, and few friends from the damage the family and the last few years did.
