Vnectomy site issue (warning: close up surgical site photo)

Vnectomy site issue (warning: close up surgical site photo)

Hey guys, just to preface, I have already spoken with my doctor, and was told to keep the area clean and dry, and to avoid straining/pushing with bowel movements.

The current issue is some sutures have come undone around the perineum. I noticed it while attempting a BM, I did my best not to strain, but out of curiosity I took a photo to see if there were any issues. I hadnt had any major bleeding, just some spotting. But I think it might have occurred when trying to get out of bed with how I was moving my legs over, thats been a learning curve with muscle memory.

My question is, I was wondering if any of you guys who have experienced separation in this area, later had issues with voiding or fistulas, or any other complication that may have come from it? And if theres anything extra i can do to prevent it from worsening?

Officially post op!

Dr. Mcclung said everything went very smooth during the surgery yesterday morning. Ive been able to control my pain really well with gabapentin and Toradol, they gave me an opioid right after and then a bit later but not since yesterday afternoon.

Overall I already feel so much peace of mind, and mental relief.

I was able to get a peak at the results, and despite the swelling im already very pleased with how it looks and cant wait until the swelling goes down!

I should in theory be able to go home this afternoon, the only problem theyre watching is my kidney function after the NSAIDS and anitbiotics.

Im planning to post before and after photos too

Stage one tomorrow!

Having stage 1 full metoidioplasty (release, UL, vagniectomy and scrotoplasty) tomorrow morning with Dr. Christopher Mcclung! Im very excited and a little anxious about recovery. But overall relieved and grateful to be here and actually have it happening.

The posts on here have been extremely helpful with preparing for surgery both with supplies and mentally. So thank you guys for posting so much information!
