I recently was able to make a publication of a research paper and I did it with my pears, no friends or classmate involved and I know that it will boost my resume and I plan to go to Germany or Canada for masters in EE power so is it still a good idea to research on AI and Computer Vision.
Its much easier to do coding and it is fun too, rather then practical performing in a lab and all that stuff, that's not boring or something its much easier to get time for a more software type work while studying.
I'm still gonna pursuit power so should I keep with my interest or do I have to shift my focus towards something more relevant to my field for future.

As a current BS student for electrical engineering what's even the point of studying signals and systems if I'm going to join power later on. Its a course that I struggled with and got a C, I found people online exaggerate it like its more important then it seems but I still have not found any use of any fourier transformation type of questions outside of the course ever rather then a frequency involving question here and there. I did the course but it dose not seems to produce any impact. Plus I hated my teacher for having and issue with me for solving the questions my own way like I'm still achieving the same answer.
