Seagate External Hard Drive 24TB detected as only 1.81TB

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a brand new Seagate Expansion 24TB External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STKP24000400), but I'm having a very strange issue.

Both my Windows 10 desktop and my Windows 11 laptop detect the drive as only 1.81TB instead of about 21.8TB.

Here's what I've already tried:

  • Tested on two different computers.
  • Reformatted the drive.
  • Converted it from MBR to GPT using DiskPart.
  • Created a new partition.
  • Verified the size in Disk Management and DiskPart.

No matter what I do, Windows always reports the drive as only 1.81TB.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is there anything else I should try, or does this sound like a defective drive?

Thanks!
