What makes FreenBecky the most powerful couple in the GL Industry ?

Most people think it’s because they are the first GL couple in the Thai Industry. And it’s probably one of the reasons. However, I think that if they didn’t do a good job, they will be forgotten by now. But no, not that the duo are just alive. Every year they still win the title of the “Couple of the Year” in important awards even if they didn’t have a lot of couple projects.

That is not a win because “you are the first”, that is a win for “you are the best”.

So what makes them the best ?

I think the answer is really simple. They are the best because they don’t just create a personage that suits you or a couple that you wanna ship no matter what. No, they are just who they are and that marks your soul more than any personage that you want it to be.

And the story itself tells us that.

If you remember in their first series together : SCOY Secret Crush On You, Freen and Becky are not supposed to be the duo-friends. It was supposed to be Nam and Freen. But the director finds the chemistry between Freen and Becky so strong that they decide to make them the duo. And not just that but he completely changes the script to be more than friends. To quote Becky, their personage was : “friends with…”.

So originally it’s that chemistry that gives us FreenBecky not the other way. So whoever said that it’s fake is the fake one. “FreenBecky”, the duo’s chemistry was not create after the creation of the name. It exists before we even know that they know each other.

And SCOY was just the beginning.

At that time, the couple had like 6 fans. But the adventure continues. And for them, it was never easy. When Saint, the CEO of IdolFactory decided to produce “Gap The Series”, the first GL of Thai Industry, with nothing but their chemistry, no investor was found. So Saint itself chose to invest in the series to make it happen. And even when the first pilot was out, there was a lot of negative feedback and even free hatred. But they didn’t give up. Not when it was difficult. Not when their mentally state was so bad with all of the cyberbullying. No they didn’t. They always give us the best of themselves.

And even when things begin to work better for them. “Gap The Series” began to be seen worldwide and both girls began to be nominated in Awards. They had to face another challenge. A lot of fans turn-against them when people violate Freen’s privacy and they discover she has a boyfriend. It became a scandal. It was so bad, so painful not just for the fandom itself but for both of them. That was a downpoint for them. More hatred than ever while you already become anxious, afraid and down about the situation. They even pullback : no more skinship, less interaction with each other in public. The only thing that the fandom had was eye contact and support for each other. Especially in the interview, the way they defended each other and their relationship.

I think if they gave up the entertainment industry at that time, they have the right to. Not everyone can face what they face. Not everyone can live with something like that and stay in the entertainment Industry.

But Freen and Becky are not anyone. Like Becky said : “FreenBecky is probably two women with dreams”. And because of their dreams they never give up, not when it’s difficult, not when nothing seems to work-out, and not even when the world is against them. They choose to continue and to still give us their best everyday.

And how can we not fall for that ? It was genuine love, love for their passion, for their work and for us. It’s not even for money because we know there was a time when they were still under Idolfactory that they didn’t get paid.

So at the end of the day, maybe they are together, maybe they are not. In fact, It doesn’t matter. It’s their relationship, their privacy, their life. What matters is that it is not just a ship, it is real. Not in a dramatic and delulu mind way, just in a genuine way. They care for each other, grow together and support each other. So for everything that they did for each other and for themselves, it gave us a safe place, taught us to love ourselves and how to be the best of ourselves. And if you are like me, they raise the standard. And that’s enough.
