advice needed. - retaking courses at u of m???
I just got done with my freshman year and I’m kind of worried about my GPA and would love some advice. My first semester was pretty great and I ended with a 3.7, but second semester my GPA basically crashed ending at around a 2.9.
During my second semester, I took four courses which were all worth four credits and got an A, B, D+, and a D. The class I got a D+ in was Biology 172 which I started off bad and I unfortunately did pretty bad on all the exams until the last one. The other course ,where I got the D grade in, was Math 115 which was due to my lack of understanding time and also because I got a sinus infection which threw me off for two of masteries.
Now what I’m conflicted about is should I spend my time retaking them because unfortunately U of M does not offer grade forgiveness? I did find one thing on the LSA course guide that could really help me. What I found was that if you get below a C minus and retake the course it would count for honor points and have an effect on your GPA (with the other grade remaining on the transcript).
However, my advisor said that my GPA would not change and I would basically just retake it just to prove to graduate programs that I know the content better and show perseverance. I’m pretty sure I can do better in these two courses since I already took them and now know how hard they really are but is it worth it? Thoughts???
