Last Friday, after 7 months of waivers and waiting, I said my oath for the Reserves. I signed for and will gain at the 567th RED HORSE squadron at SJAFB as a 3E9X1. I am more than excited and so glad I get to be a part of RED HORSE. They did not give me a ship date. I am expected to go to UTA’s starting the weekend of Aug 1-2.

What is the Air Force waiting on? My recruiter has said the Reserves are likely not going to meet their recruitment goal this year so I figured they’d ship me out ASAP, but it makes sense that it is delayed since the Active Duty side met their goal in May.

Any tips for my first UTA with the DTF will be appreciated, as well as any insight into what RED HORSE will entail that is different than a typical CE unit. Thanks!

I said my oath today (06/26/26) after many waiver obstacles and almost 7 months of being in process. Just entered the Reserves DEP (E-1🥲) and have my first UTA in early August as a 3E9X1 at Seymour Johnson. It’s the 567th Red Horse CE Squadron and I am more than excited to get started. I have a few questions and I will field any advice/questions anyone here has.

If anybody has been to UTA as a DEP Reserves trainee, what are some tips I can use to help prepare myself?

Has anyone been a part of a Red Horse squadron? What’s it like?

Any EM (Emergency Management) advice or foreshadowing is appreciated, negative or positive.

I’ve finally gotten my waivers officially approved to join the Reserves (I’m ecstatic) and have booked an Emergency Management job (3E9X1) at Seymour Johnson. I’d love a chance to talk to someone in the same field about what drills look like, tech school advice, and more various general questions about QOL. Any and all input/advice is appreciated and will be heeded. Thank you!
