I didn’t realize how much fabric quality affects the way an outfit feels

I’m still pretty new to paying attention to menswear beyond just basic fit and colors, but something I’ve started noticing recently is how much fabric changes the overall feel of an outfit.

For a long time, I mostly bought clothes based on how they looked online or how good the outfit styling was in photos. If the design looked clean, I assumed the piece would feel the same in person.

But after wearing different jackets, hoodies, and heavier tees over time, I noticed some clothes just hold up and feel better the more you wear them, while others lose shape or start feeling cheap pretty quickly.

What surprised me is that two very similar-looking pieces can feel completely different once you actually wear them regularly. Small things like texture, weight, stitching, and structure seem to affect the overall look way more than I expected.

Now I’m trying to pay more attention to quality and construction instead of only the visual design.

Curious what details more experienced people here usually look for when trying to tell if something will actually age well.
