Inglis dryer, no idler pulley?
So this morning I discovered that the belt had broken on my dryer. I looked up instructions on YouTube and found this, however this and everything else I've been able to find makes reference to an idler pulley. The thing is, mine doesn't have one. When I removed the drum I did see this thing just lying on the bottom, though:
It wasn't attached to anything, just lying loose. It looks like something meant to serve the same purpose as an idler pulley, but the thing is, it looks like the belt would go through it, and as both it and the belt are continuous I'd have to cut the belt and splice it to do that (and the old broken belt shows no sign of a splice).
Any idea how to proceed? Thanks in advance.
